Nyköpings GK is located just east of the small town of Nyköping, near the road to Oxelösund. It is a full service club with two full length 18 hole courses.
Of the two courses, the west course is the more demanding one. It starts out rather unusually with a short, downhill par three. Luckily the hole is fairly easy, even if you have first tee jitters.
The course then continues down on the fairly flat meadow lands with a few fairly straight holes, where the wind provides the main challenge. As you reach the approach to the fifth you come up on a small lake, and the course turns around it with holes 5, 6, and 7. Number 7 is a tricky par three, with water on three sides of the green, a nice hole.
The second nine are considerably more varied, both in design and landscape. Holes ten and eleven take a detour up into the forest, the only two holes where you are really in the forest. After that you reach a highly elevated tee on the 12th, with a nice view of the back nine. The remaining holes get better and better, and all in all the back nine is much nicer and more varied than the front. The course ends with two holes along a body of water, with the 18th green just below the clubhouse.
The clubhouse has a nice, cafeteria style restaurant with good food at very reasonable prices. Next to the clubhouse is the proshop, a mix of traditional shop and outlet, with a good selection of merchandise, some at bargain prices. You’ll find anything you need, and then some.
Practice facilities are very good, with a full length driving range, pitch and chip practice areas, and a large putting green.
To get to Nyköpings GK you can fly Ryanair to Stockholm Skavsta, very near the course, or drive down from Stockholm in about an hour and a half.
