A golf writer’s luxury
When you go on a golf trip, you probably fly there, stay in a nice hotel for the duration, play some golf, and return home. Sounds pretty standard, right?
This doesn’t happen very often when you’re a golf writer. We often travel in the off-season when there are fewer flights, and end up with a string of connecting flights and lots of waiting at airports. When we arrive at our destination, we often stay in a different hotel every night or every other night. Lots of packing and unpacking (or living out of the suitcase), and lugging heavy golf equipment from hotel to hotel.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my job. I get to travel the world, stay in mostly luxury hotels, and play some of the world’s greatest golf courses. But every once in a while it would be nice with a slightly slower tempo.
As luck has it, this week is such a week. I have a non-stop flight to Marrakech, and I get to stay in the same hotel for an entire week. The pinnacle of luxury!
The hotel in question is called Adam Park and is located about 1.5 km from the main square in Marrakech, Jamaa el fnaa. Quite a nice hotel on first inspection. More details at the end of the week. For now I will just enjoy unpacking and hanging all my clothes on hangers, a luxury I seldom have time for on regular press trips.
